Massachusetts has the most developed ski industry of any of the three southern New England states. While still not to the scale of its’
northern New England brethren, Massachusetts has many areas across the state catering to the ski and snowboard crowd, and many more places where cross country skiers can take to the trails.
Massachusetts Downhill / Alpine Skiing
There are a dozen downhill ski areas across Massachusetts ranging from 9 trails – Ward Hill in Shrewsbury, to nearly 45 trails – Berkshire East in Charlemont and Jiminy Peak in Hancock. There are ski areas located close to Boston as well as convenient to the metro-west area, as well as areas in western Massachusetts in the Berkshires.
