While the Lakes Region, White Mountains, fall foliage, and skiing might be the first things to come to mind when someone mentions the State of New Hampshire, New Hampshire is home to numerous wineries. While many of the wines are hard ciders and wine made from fruit other than grapes, some wine is made from traditional and hybrid grapes as well.
New Hampshire’s first winery, Jewell Towne Vineyards, has been producing wine since 1994. Since then the New Hampshire wine industry has grown to over twenty wineries. New Hampshire has no federally designated American Viticultural Areas (AVAs), so all wine is bottled under the New Hampshire Appellation.
