Bridgeport Bluefish

The Bridgeport Bluefish are an independent professional baseball team that play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB). The team was founded in 1997 and has won 1 league title (1999) and five Liberty Division titles (1998, 1999, 2002, 2006, 2010).

The Bluefish play at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard at 500 Main Street in Bridgeport, CT. They have a 126 game season that runs from late April to Mid-September.

Connecticut Tigers

The Connecticut Tigers are a minor league baseball team based in Norwich, Connecticut. They are a Class-A Short Season team playing in the New York – Penn League. The Tigers are an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers have made Norwich, Connecticut their home since the 2010 season having moved there from Oneonta, New York. They play their games in Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium, a 6,270 seat stadium located at 14 Stott Avenue in Norwich. The team plays a season that starts in June and ends in early September.

New Britain Rock Cats

The New Britain Rock Cats are a Double-A minor league baseball team based in New Britain, Connecticut. They play in the Eastern League and are affiliated with the Minnesota Twins.

The Rock Cats have been based in New Britain since 1996 and play their home games in New Britain Stadium located at 230 John Karbonic Way in New Britain. The team plays a season that starts in early April and ends in early September.

Basketball

Connecticut Sun

The Connecticut Sun are a women’s professional basketball team in the WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association). They were founded in 1999 as the Orlando Miracle. The Sun made Uncasville, Connecticut their home in 2003 where they have been playing ever since.

The Sun plays at the Mohegan Sun Arena, an arena inside the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. After an April training camp, they play a 34 game season (17 at home and 17 away) that lasts from May to August.

Hockey

Bridgeport Sound Tigers

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers are a hockey team that play in the American Hockey League (AHL). They are an affiliated with the NHL’s New York Islanders.

The Sound Tigers have been based in New Britain since their founding in 2001. They play their home games at the Webster Bank Arena which is at 600 Main Street in Bridgeport. The Sound Tigers play a season that starts in early October and ends in early April.

Connecticut Whale

The Connecticut Whale (formerly the Hartford Wolf Pack) are a hockey team that play in the American Hockey League (AHL). The team makes its home in Hartford, Connecticut. They are affiliated with the New York Rangers of the NHL.

The Whale, who have been playing in Hartford since 1997, officially changed their name to the Connecticut Whale in November of 2010. They play their home games at the XL Center which is located at 1 Civic Center Plaza in Hartford. The Whale plays a season that starts in early October and ends in early April.

Central Connecticut State Basketball

Both the men’s and the women’s CCSU basketball teams play in the Northeast Conference (NEC) in NCAA Division I. Both teams play their home games in the Detrick Gymnasium on the CCSU campus. Their seasons run from November to March.

Central Connecticut State Football

The Central Connecticut State Blue Devils are a college football team that play at the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS – formerly Division I-AA) level in the Northeast Conference (NEC). They play their home games in Arute Field at 1615 Stanley St in New Britain.

Their season runs from September through November, unless they make it into the championship tournament.

Fairfield University Basketball

Fairfield University fields both men’s and a women’s NCAA Division I basketball teams. Both teams play in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). They play their home games at Alumni Hall on the University campus. Basketball season runs from November into March.

UConn Basketball

The University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies women and men both play NCAA Division I college basketball in the Big East Conference.

The UConn Women’s basketball team has been one of the most successful women’s basketball programs in the country. This perennial powerhouse holds the NCAA record for longest basketball winning streak. They have also won numerous NCAA basketball championships. The UConn men’s basketball program is also very competitive with a couple of national championships and many sweet 16, elite 8, and final four appearances..

The UConn Huskies women and men play their home basketball games in the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion on Hillside Road on their Storrs campus. The Huskies season runs from November into March.

UConn Football

The UConn football team plays at the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level in the Big East Conference. They have been playing at the FBS (formerly Division I-A) level since 1999.

The Huskies play their home games at the new (2003) 40,000 seat Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut. The stadium is located at 615 Silver Lane in East Hartford.

The team’s season runs from September through November, unless they make an appearance in a bowl game.

UConn Hockey

The UConn Men’s ice hockey team is a NCAA Division I team that currently plays in the Atlantic Hockey conference but will be moving to the Hockey East conference starting in the 2014/2015 season. The women’s ice hockey team is also an NCAA Division I team who play in the Hockey East conference.

Both teams play their home games at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum. The men’s ice hockey season runs from October through March. The women’s ice hockey season runs from late September to early March.

Quinnipiac Basketball

Quinnipiac University has both an NCAA Division 1 men’s basketball team and women’s basketball team. Both Play in the Northeast Conference (NEC). Both teams play in the TD Bank Sports Center less than a mile from the Mount Carmel campus.

Both teams basketball seasons run from November into March.

Quinnipiac Hockey

Quinnipiac also has a both a men’s and a women’s Division 1 ice hockey team. Both lay in the ECAC. Both hockey teams also play their home games in the TD Bank Sports Center.

The ice hockey seasons run from October into March.

Sacred Heart University Basketball

Sacred Heart has both a men’s basketball team and a women’s basketball team that play at the NCAA Division 1 level. Both play in the Northeast Conference (NEC).

The basketball season runs from November into March.

Sacred Heart University Football

The Sacred Heart University Pioneers play at the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS – formerly Division I-AA) level in the Northeast Conference (NEC). They play their home games at the William H. Pitt Center Campus Field on the campus of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.

The Pioneers’ season runs from September through November.

Sacred Heart University fields an NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey team that plays in the Atlantic Hockey Conference. Their home games are played at the Milford Ice Pavilion.

Sacred Heart also has a NCAA Division 1 women’s ice hockey team that also plays. They play their home games in the Wonderland of ice.

Both teams have a season that runs from October to March.

Yale Basketball

Yale fields both men’s and women’s NCAA Division 1 basketball teams. Both play in the Ivy League. The teams play their home games in the John J. Lee Amphitheater in the Payne Whitney Gymnasium at 70 Tower Parkway in New Haven.

Basketball season runs from November into March.

Yale Football

The Yale University Bulldogs are an Ivy League college football team that play at the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS – formerly Division I-AA) level. They play their home games in the 61,446 seat Yale Bowl Stadium at 81 Central Avenue in New Haven.

The Bulldogs play a 10 game season that runs from September through November. Similar to the other Ivy League teams, Yale does not participate in the FCS championship tournament.

Yale Hockey

Yale has both an NCAA Division 1 men’s ice hockey team and women’s ice hockey team. Both play in the ECAC Hockey division. Home games are played in the Ingalls Rink at 73 Sachem Street in New Haven.

Hockey season runs from October into March for the men and October through February for the women.
