Connecticut has numerous agricultural or county fairs every year, six of which date back to the 1800s. The oldest is the Brooklyn Fair that dates to the founding of the Pomfret United Agricultural Society (1809), now the Windham County Agricultural Society. The next two oldest fairs in the State of Connecticut are the Four Town Fair (1837), and the Harwinton Fair (1856).
