A Couple of Nice Festivals Coming Up in Vermont

There are a couple of nice festivals coming up in Vermont over the next month or so that are well worth taking in.

  • Plymouth Folk and Blues Festival – Folk and blues fans may want to head to President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site in Plymouth Notch, Vermont for the Plymouth Folk and Blues Festival.
  • Vermont Life Wine and Harvest Festival – Heading into the fall, the Vermont Life Wine and Harvest Festival takes up residence in the Mount Snow Valley on September 20 through September 22, 2013. Great foliage, great wine, great food – what is not to like about this event?

Something Interesting Growing at the Rhode Island Flower Show

The Rhode Island Flower Show takes up residence at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence this weekend (February 21 through 24, 2013). Tucked away among the blooms and the plants of the flower show you will find a “festival within a festival” – the Food and Wine Festival at the Flower Show. At this festival you can find:

  • 100 wines from around the world featured for tasting
  • A theater kitchen featuring celebrity chefs and continuous cooking

So check out some gardens and then go and check out some grapes, fermented grapes that is…

The Food and Wine Festival will run daily during the flower show from 1 PM to 6 PM.

Boston’s 22nd Annual Wine Expo is Coming!

What some may remember as a two-day consumer and trade event has evolved into a week-long celebration of wine, food, and culture that await us all at New England’s 22nd annual Boston Wine Expo! This year’s exposition promises a wonderful experience which includes:

  • Grand Tasting – offering over 185 wines from around the world, sumptuous culinary delights from Boston’s preeminent restaurants, and live celebrity chef demonstrations.
  • Seminar Series – for both consumers and those in the trade, hosted by industry professionals.
  • Grand Cru Wine Lounge – where you will enjoy live music and culinary treats while sampling rare, exotic, and more costly wines (reds $75+ and whites $45+) before purchasing your favorite bottles.

And there is also the exclusive Vintner Dinner Series hosted by wineries at some of Boston’s preeminent restaurants where you can experience expert and delightful pairings of food and wine. These dinners are expected to run the week of the Expo through the following week.

Russell’s Garden Center to Host Massachusetts Farm Wineries Day

Russell’s Garden Center on the Boston Post Road in Wayland will once again host Massachusetts farm Wineries Day at their Wayland Winter Farmers’ Market on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Participating wineries include:

In addition to attending the Massachusetts Farm Wineries Day, two to three of the wineries will attend the Wayland Winter Farmers’ Market each Saturday.

2012 Boston Wine Festival

Picture of the 2012 Boston Wne Festival CatalogThe 2012 Boston Wine Festival will kick off tomorrow at the Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf on Boston’s waterfront. The 2012 edition of the Wine Festival will be the 23rd annual occurrence of the event which is one of the country’s oldest wine festivals. The Boston Wine Festival will start with their Grand Opening Reception at 7:00 PM tomorrow (Friday), January 6, 2012, where you will be able to sample over 50 wines and enjoy the a delicious buffet dinner.

The festival runs through its Closing Reception which will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 7:00 PM. Over the course of the two and a half months the Festival will feature:

  • A Jazz brunch
  • A Valentine’s day dinner dance
  • A Valentine’s day brunch
  • Receptions
  • Seminars paired with dinners
  • Theme dinners

A Couple of Upcoming Wine Events in Boston

With the focus on the holiday season many may not be thinking about upcoming events in January – or maybe many are looking for an excuse to think of something other than the holidays… Whichever camp you fall into, there are two notable wine events coming up in January in Boston:

  1. The Boston Wine Festival – 2012 will mark the 23rd annual Boston Wine Festival. It kicks off on January 6 and runs through March 30. All events are held at the Boston Harbor Hotel at 70 Rowes Wharf.
  2. The Boston Wine Expo – The annual Boston Wine Expo will run from January 21 to 22 at the Seaport World Trade Center and Seaport Hotel. Seminars, vintner wine dinners, and grand tastings highlight this annual event.

The 6th annual Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival, will take place September 23-25, 2011 in the the historic mansions Rosecliff and Marble House in Newport, RI. The festival will feature:

Killington Wine Festival

Killington Vermont plays host to the 10th annual Killington Wine Festival this coming weekend (July 22-24, 2011). The event will feature over 500 wines from around the world from over 40 wineries and distributors. Special events at the festival include:
