Paradise City Arts Festival Spring Shows

It is time once again for the Paradise City Arts Festival spring shows. The theme for this year’s spring festivals is “up in the air” challenging artists to use imagery that defies gravity.

Paradise City Marlborough, MA

First up, this weekend (March 20 – 22, 2015), is the Paradise City Arts Festival at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough, MA. The Marlborough festival will feature the work of over 175 artists from around the country.  On display will be ceramics, furniture, jewelry, paintings, photography, prints, sculpture, wall tapestries, and wearable art.

Paradise City Northampton, MA

If you cannot make the Marlborough Festival, or if one is not enough, you can always catch the Paradise City Arts Festival at the Three County Fairgrounds in Northampton, MA on May 23 to 25, 2015. The Northampton festival will feature 260 local and national artists.

Paradise City Arts Festival this Columbus Day Weekend in Northampton, MA

It is time once again for the annual Columbus Day Paradise City Arts Festival. The festival will be held this Columbus Day weekend, October 11 to 13, 2014 at the 3-County Fairgrounds in Northampton, MA. Festival hours are 10 AM to 6 PM Saturday and Sunday, and 10 AM to 4 PM Monday. What will you find at this fall’s festival? How about:

  • Art by 275 nationally juried artists showing original works in ceramics, art glass, painting, decorative fiber, furniture, jewelry, metal, mixed media, photography, large-scale sculpture, wearable art and wood
  • A Sculpture Garden
  • A 12,000-square-foot tent housing regional food and music
  • The festival dining tent with wonderful regional food
  • The festival soundstage with local and national musical artists
  • A special themed exhibit “Face to Face”
  • WGBY Benefit Silent Art Auction
  • . . . and more . . .

Admission is $13 for adults, $11 for seniors (65+), and $8 for students.

This marks the 20th anniversary of the Paradise City Arts Festival.

Arts Alive Festival ’14 in Falmouth, MA

Mark your calendars for 3-day celebration of the arts in Falmouth and the Upper Cape. The Arts Alive Festival ’14 will take up residence on the Falmouth Library Lawn at 300 Main Street on June 20 through 22, 2014. The festival will feature:

  • A town dance on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 7 to 9 PM with The Charlie Jamieson Trio featuring Cerise
  • A Rock Fest Saturday Night, June 21, 2013
  • Continuous entertainment with over 60 performances
  • Over 50 artisans and crafts people displaying and selling their wares

So mark your calendars for the Upper Cape’s premier arts festival.

Vermont Open Studio Weekend this Memorial Day Weekend

The State of Vermont is ushering in the summer season with their annual Open Studio Weekend. Open Studio Weekend is a “statewide celebration of the visual arts and creative process”. During Open Studio Weekend the studios of 250 participating artists open their doors to the public. Open Studio Weekend takes place this coming weekend – Memorial Day Weekend (May 24 and 25, 2014).

Look for the bright yellow signs along Vermont’s roads guiding you to artist’s and crafts people’s studios. Or better yet, don’t leave it to chance and download the Open Studio Tour Guide (PDF).

Participating artists and crafts people include:

  • Furniture makers
  • Glassblowers
  • Ironworkers
  • Jewelers
  • Painters
  • Potters
  • Printmakers
  • Sculptors
  • Quilt makers
  • Weavers
  • Wood carvers

Open Studio Weekend has been an annual tradition put together by the Vermont Crafts Council since 1993.

Preview of the Upcoming Paradise City Arts Festival in Northampton, MA

The Paradise City Arts Festival in Northampton, MA is just a little over a week away (Memorial Day Weekend – May 24-26, 2014) and we thought that we would showcase a little of the art work to get you in the mood – as if you need an excuse to visit an art festival out in the Berkshires over the long weekend…

Fret not, if you miss the beginning of the summer show you can always catch them again in Northampton during peak foliage season Columbus Day weekend, and then again right before the kickoff of the Christmas shopping season November 21 to 24, 2014 in Marlborough, MA.

Paradise City Arts Festival Coming to Marlborough in November

Art lovers may want to mark their calendars for the weekend before Thanksgiving (November 22, 23, & 24, 2013). That is when the Paradise City Arts Festival takes up residence at the Royal Plaza Trade Center on Boston Post Road in Marlborough, MA.

Not familiar with the Paradise City Arts Festivals? Founded in 1995, Paradise City brings together hundreds of fine artisans and craftsman to present four shows a year – two in the spring in Marlborough and Northampton, and two in the fall in Northampton and Marlborough. The next and final show for 2013 is the Marlborough show coming up November 22, 23, & 24, 2013.

The Marlborough Paradise City Arts Festival brings together 175 competitively juried artists and craft designers from dozens of states and Canada who will be showing their works in three broad categories:

  1. Furniture and home furnishings
  2. Fine art and sculpture
  3. Fashion and jewelry

In addition to all of the wonderful fine arts and crafts, the show will have live Jazz, Swing, and Motown in a sunlit sculpture cafe. The cafe will feature a special exhibition, “Hocus-Pocus”, an exhibition that celebrates all that is “mystical, magical, mysterious, and make-believe”.

This is a wonderful creative kickoff to the holiday season that you will not want to miss.

A few Fun Events Coming Up in Vermont

For patrons of the arts there are a couple of nice events coming up in the near future in the Green Mountain State of Vermont.

8th Annual Television and Independent Film Festival

On September 26 through 28, 2013 the towns of Dover and Wilmington, VT will play host to the 8th Annual Television and Independent Film Festival. At the festival you can see:

  • 58 selections from hundreds of submissions of television, web series and film from fourteen countries around the world shown in venues in Dover and Wilmington.
  • The Festival Mile which is really a 1.5 mile path through the center of Dover with live music, street performers, vendors, car shows, and park and picnic areas.

Wrap around all of that the beautiful fall foliage that should be getting pretty spectacular by then.

Vermont Open Studio Weekend

Vermont Open Studio Weekend is your opportunity to visit any of over 100 artists throughout Vermont on October 5 and 6, 2013. The Vermont Crafts Council, who organizes the open studio weekend, publishes a free booklet to help you plan your trip. The booklet can be obtained from Vermont welcome centers, galleries, and community centers as well as online here (PDF).

Plan for some leaf peeping  on your trip as well as the  foliage should be getting pretty close to peak by that weekend.
