If you are looking for some great cycling in the White Mountains there are two organizations that you must check in with to get the “skinny” on some great rides.
Porky Gulch Bike Shop
The first is the Porky Gulch Bike Shop centrally located on Gorham, New Hampshire’s Main Street. This two-year-old operation has quickly built a great reputation for steering bikers in the right direction and taking care of their every need. Check out their Rides to Try page for four great rides including 18 miles on the Presidential Recreational Rail Trail and two much longer rides, one of which circumnavigates the Presidential Range. Can you imagine riding that in the fall with the leaves in full color?
If you recognize husband and wife Lincoln and Heather at Porky Gulch, it may be because they also own North Woods Rafting. So one way or another they are going to get you outdoors doing something exciting…
Coos Cycling Club
The Coos Cycling Club conducts two different group rides every week that you may want to join:
- A Hump-Day Mountain Biking Ride – This happens on Wednesday (hence “hump day”) afternoon’s at 5 or 6 PM depending on whether the days are getting longer or shorter.
- A Sunday afternoon road ride that is good for all abilities.
To see if they are cooking up any additional rides check out the Coos Cycling Club Facebook page.
