The Lakes Region Sled Dog Club announced yesterday that they are postponing their 84th Laconia World Championship Sled Dog Derby. The new dates for the derby are February 22, 23, 24, 2013.
The problems leading to this postponement include:
- No snow base
- Minimal ice with snow cover on lakes
- A long-range forecast that does not indicate much improvement over the next few weeks
Hopefully the postponement will allow things to improve enough for them to “hold The Greatest Show on Snow!”
