Whether you call it “pick your own“, “you-pick“, or “u-pick“, picking apples and other fruit is a time honored fall tradition offered by many farms and orchards across the Commonwealth. As Mother Nature gets set to close the curtains on another growing season she serves up a bounty of wonderful fresh fruit for our enjoyment. Going to pick you own is a wonderful fall activity for the whole family.
What kind of fruit can you find? At this time of year there are many different varieties of apples, blackberries, some fall blueberries, raspberries, pears, plums, and, of course, pumpkins.
But there is more. Most of these farms and orchards also offer other fresh local produce. Don’t forget the apple cider and cider donuts! Also, many offer hay rides – which is often the means of getting out into the orchard or pumpkin patch…
