For those of us who like to gaze at the heavens you will get an extra treat this weekend. The night of August 11 and into the pre-dawn hours of August 12 is the peak of the annual Perseid Meteor Shower. This is one of the more consistent meteor showers that can produce 60+ meteors an hour. The moon, a thin crescent, will rise three hours before dawn so the viewing should be great for most of the evening.
