Operation Sail Boston Gets Underway Coincides with Navy Week This Weekend

Operation Sail Boston will welcome the ships of the War of 1812 Bicentennial Commemorations to Boston for 4t of July week. The tall ships arrive at Noon on June 30, 2012. Visiting this year are the:

  • USCG Barque Eagle (USA – 290 feet)
  • Cisne Branco (Brazil – 249 feet)
  • Dewaruci (Indonesia – 191 feet)
  • Gloria (Colombia – 257 feet)
  • Guayas (Ecuador – 257 feet)

Coinciding with Operation Sail 2012 and also commemorating the War of 1812 Bicentennial is Navy Week 2012 Boston. Navy Week brings Twenty U.S. and coalition ships including the USS Wasp (multipurpose amphibious assault ship) and the USS Gravely (guided missile destroyer) to Boston for the Fourth of July week. Viewing of the various ships will be at the Charlestown Navy Yard, Fish Pier, Black Falcon Terminal, and the Massport North Jetty.
