When I was young I had an uncle in the Navy who was stationed at Point Mugu in Southern California. I can still remember attending an air show at the Naval Air Station. How loud the Blue Angels were screaming overhead is indelibly burned into my memory. Ever since then I have had a life-long fascination with all things aeronautic. That is why I keep an eye out for air shows coming into the New England Region.
This summer and early fall there are four air shows being held in the New England region in Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Here they are in date order:
- June 25 – 26, 2011: Rhode Island National Guard Open House and Air Show, North Kingstown, RI – U.S. Navy Blue Angels and more
- August 13 – 14: Boston – Portsmouth Air Show, Portsmouth International Airport at Pease, NH – U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Army Golden Knights and more
- August 27 – 28, 2011: Great State of Maine Air Show & Business Aviation Expo, Brunswick, ME – U.S. Navy Blue Angels, U.S. Army Golden Knights and more
- October 1 – 2, 2011: Tweed Airfest 2011, New Haven Regional Airport, CT
