Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum

The Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum was founded in 1968 and preserves the memory of Islanders who risked their lives to rescue people from the numerous shipwrecks that have taken place around the Island of Nantucket. The museum is owned by the Egan Maritime Institute.

The museum has both permanent and changing exhibitions. Their galleries exhibit items from their collection of over 5,000 objects including surfboats, beach carts, vintage photographs and more. They also have on display the Fresnel lenses from the Brant Point and Great Point lights.

The museum also hosts numerous events throughout the year.

Hours of Operation

Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
