The Nantucket Arts Council was founded in 1973. The Arts Council produces several events a year that showcase both local and regional talent. Sponsored events include:
- A Winter and spring concert series
- A young peoples concert series
- Shakespeare in the Garden
- The Nantucket Arts Festival
The Arts Council also provides scholarships to Nantucket High School graduating seniors who wish to further their education for a career in the arts. The Council also provides grants to organizations that present on island community programs throughout the year.
