A Garden at the Polly Hill Arboretum
The Polly Hill Arboretum is a 70 acre public garden on State Road in West Tisbury. The Arboretum is the result of the life’s work of horticulturist Polly Hill (1907-2007), who started putting together her plant collections in 1958.
The Polly Hill Arboretum is home to collections of rare plants from around the world as well as:
- Polly’s famous North Tisbury azaleas
- The stewartia collection designated a “national collection” by the North American Plant Collection Consortium (NAPCC)
- Camellias
- Clematis
- Crabapples
- Magnolias
- … and more …
The arboretum’s living collections of over 3,000 plants are labeled to provide basic information about the plants.
Hours of Operation
The Polly Hill Arboretum is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The visitor’s center is open daily 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM from Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day. Tours are given daily from Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day at 2:00 PM.
