Located in Sandwich, Massachusetts, the Loof carousel at Heritage Museum and Gardens is the third oldest antique carousel in Massachusetts and the 11th oldest in New England. This antique hand-carved carousel was made by Charles Looff in 1911. It is one of six carousels in New England that German woodcarver Charles I. D. Looff had a hand in building. It consists of 19 jumping horses, several menagerie animals, and a couple of chariots in three rows.
The Carousel became part of Heritage Museum and Gardens in 1971 and is probably its most popular attraction. Prior to that it made its home in Provincetown.
