The first Barnstable County Fair was held by the Barnstable County Agricultural Society in October of 1844 at the County Courthouse. By the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century the fair had become one of the most popular annual events on Cape Cod.
The Fair ceased in 1932 but was revived in 1954. The Fair has grown from those humble re-beginnings and in 1973 its current home, the former Chesterbrook School in Falmouth, was purchased.
The Fair features:
- Exhibits
- Nationally prominent musical entertainment
- Attractions such as an amusement park, demolition derby, monster trucks, and more
The Barnstable County Fair is held annually at the County Fairgrounds in East Falmouth in mid-July.
The Barnstable County Fairgrounds is also home to a Harvest Festival in October.
