Description

Shawnee Mountain Ski Area in Bridgton, Maine is known as a haven for night skiing fans. The facility stays open for night skiing until 9:00 PM on weekdays and 10:00 PM on weekends.

Snow boarders will love the facility’s new Burton Learn to Ride Center. Shawnee is home to the only Burton center in the state of Maine. The Burton center has special packages available for new snowboarders.

Skiers will enjoy the mountain’s 41 trails designed for all different experience levels. Shawnee also recently invested in a new lift that gets skiers to the top of the mountain faster maximizing their experience.

Shawnee makes booking convenient by making lift tickets, gift cards and season passes purchasable online.

Rentals

Rentals are available for full, half day and nighttime use. A full line of skis and equipment are available. Snowboarders will be impressed with the large selection of Burton products. A valid license or ID must be presented at the time of rental. Minors 17 and under need a parent’s signature to rent equipment. Multi-day rentals are available for visitors planning to spend several days on the slopes.

Lessons

Shawnee offers a winter sports school and training program for both adults and kids. First time packages, women’s only classes and semi-private lessons are all available. Kids wanting to partake in lessons are grouped by age. Kids lessons are available twice a day. Private lessons can be scheduled for both adults and kids for up to 2 and a half hours.

Racing

Shawnee features a racing program known as Racing with the Moon. Teams of up to seven skiers can race once a week at night for a chance to win prizes. After the race, skiers normally hit the onsite pub for food and drinks.

All night racing skiers must be 21 or older. A youth racing league is in place for skiers 18 and under who have a competitive spirit.

Lift Tickets

Visitors can purchase lift tickets for a full day or for night skiing only which begins after 4:00 PM. Adult tickets are available for riders ages 13 and over. Children 12 and under can pay a reduced kids’ rate. There are also discounts for seniors age 66 and up. Two, three and four day lift pass bundles are available for skiers staying overnight.

Amenities

Guests who need a place to sleep in the area will have many options to choose from. One popular place to stay is the Shawnee Peak House. This lodge can house up to 44 people and is located close to the mountain. There are also condos for rent near the mountain that include a washer and dryer, fireplace and upgraded kitchen. A daycare program is available on the mountain so that parents can take some time to enjoy the slopes while their children play safely.
